Xiaomi is again making news with the launch of of Redmi 3 in China for a ridiculously cheap price of CNY 699($106)
The Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi has launched their first phone of 2016. Another addition have been done to the Redmi series of budget smartphones. The device will go on sale from 12th January. No announcements regarding global launch have been done by Xiaomi. So, whether it will be available globally is still a mystery.
Design-wise, the device has a full metallic body with a textured finish at the back. The company stated that it as an “all-new lattice design, made up of 4166 stars woven together to reflect a gorgeous arrangement of diamonds.” The device is backed by a monstrous 4,100 mAh battery, surprisingly the device weighs 144g only. The dimensions are 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5mm.

Although Xiaomi from the beginning had low-cost devices with good specs but this is just ridiculously cheap. Not only it comes with a huge 4100 mAh battery (doubling the battery of Redmi 2) but also with the a new 64-bit Octa-core Snapdragon 616 SoC clocked at 1.2 GHz, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage and also with microSD support upto 128GB. The display has a 5 inch screen with a resolution of 1280×720(720p).The phone comes in three colours- Gold, Silver and Grey.

The Redmi 3 also sports dual SIM (although one SIM is hybrid).
Camera: Redmi 3 has a 13 MP PDAF(Phase Detection Auto Focus) Rear camera with a LED flash and on the front it has a 5 MP selfie camera. Both have the ability to record at 1080p. It also supports 4G connectivity, Bluetooth and USB 2.0. IR Blaster is also mentioned on the company’s website!

On the Software end the device runs the latest MIUI7 running on Android 5.1.1 . The device also supports 5V/2A fast charging. The bigger battery although non removable along with fast charging at 699 yuan ($106) is really catching peoples eye.
Caution: The company isn’t done yet, Xiaomi is going to launch it’s upcoming flagship killer Mi5,powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC, this February.
