System requirements

  1. A New HDD Partition on your PC with FAT32 format, with a minimum capacity of 16 GB.
  2. A CPU which has 64-bit compatibility which is mostly there is modern Intel CPU’s

Steps to Dual Boot Remix OS on PC

[alert-note]First of all you need to follow steps from the previous post of download the correct version according to your BIOS mode[/alert-note]

Steps to install

  • Go to Jide website
  • Scroll down then check the I am a developer
  • Then you will have 2 options either Legacy mode or EFI mode
Remix OS
  • Now you need to determine whether your bios is in UEFI mode or Legacy mode for that type “msinfo32” in the search bar of start menu and open the program.
As the following screenshots show it will be mentioned whether your system is in UEFI mode or Legacy
Also check whether secure boot is enabled or not. if it is enabled, go to the bios and disable it before proceeding

  • Now as per your BIOS mode you need to download the Remix OS 2.0 Legacy or EFI.
  • Once downloaded extract the contents of the archive.
  • You will see 3 items as the screenshot below

 

Remix OS
  • Now extract the File with the name Remix Os and size of around 2.10 GB and keep it we will need it later.
  • Now for dual boot you need to add a new partition for remix OS. To create a new partition follow the steps and if you know skip ahead
  • Go to start and type “partition” or “diskmgmt.msc” and the open the program which pops us as show in the ss below
  •  Now it will open a screen like this showing the drives on your pc

  • Right click on the drive which you want to shrink and click shrink volume. Now a dialog opens asking you to specify the space, specify a min of 16 GB and not less than that.

  • It will take some time and after a few mins an unallocated space will be created as shown in the ss. Right click on that and click on create new volume
 
  • A wizard will open up click next and a series of dialogues will come up asking you to specify the Latter for the drive, file system type, and label for the drive

 

  • Make sure to specify file system as FAT32 and name it remix os as shown in the ss below , click next and after few mins the drive will be created as shown the ss
  • A new Drive will now be created
 

NOW ACCORDING TO YOUR BIOS MODE YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW:

FOR LEGACY MODE

  1. Extract the contents of the Remix OS Legacy zip and then extract the contents of the file with size 2.10 GB
  2. After extracting open the folder and paste all its contents inside the drive along with the ISO of size 2.10 GB which we just created like the ss below.
  3. Now Download EasyBCD from the link
  4. After installing it Run it
  5. Click on Add new entry on the left pane menu and then move to the ISO tab as shown in the ss below
 
  1. Now mention the name as “Remix OS” and specify the location of the ISO which we pasted in the newly created drive and also make sure that the mode is “Run from Disk”.
  2. Then click on Add entry, wait for a few mins till it finishes.
  3. There you go, you now have windows and remix os multi-boot available.
  4. Now when you boot up it will ask you whether to boot in remix os or windows
  5. Hit remix os and it will open up asking 2 options:-
  6. Resident mode or Guest mode depending upon the use choose either.
  • Resident Mode saves all your user data once you shut down
  • Guest Mode doesn’t save any data and reverts back to what it was previously as soon as the session ends.
 
 

FOR UEFI MODE

  1. Extract the contents of the remix os EFI zip and then extract the contents of the file with size 2.10 GB using 7-Zip only.
 
  1. After extracting open the folder and paste all its contents inside the drive along with the ISO of size 2.10 GB which we just created like the ss below.
 
  1. Now download easyEFI from the link
  2. Install and run it
  3. Click on the 2 option as shown by the mouse point in the screenshot below
 
  1. Now select type as “Linux or other os” and in the description add Remix_Os.
Next click on the radio button of the drive to which we copied files earlier and in which we will install remix OS. It might be that it is not visible , but look out for the initials of the drive i.e Remix os which is shown by the pointer in the ss below.
 
 
  1. Now click below on browser option and it will open a window like this
  2. Click on + or expand button as shown in the ss and then select bootx64.efi and Click OK
  3. Now finally again click OK
  4. There you go you have successfully done it and now boot up again to be presented the list of OS to boot from.
  1. Hit Remix OS and enjoy and it will open up asking 2 options:-
  2. Resident mode or guest mode depending upon the use choose either.
