With the evolving PC Master Race, Steam has continued to expand it’s services year over year. This has resulted in a big fat business for Valve and the games they host.

Based on data revealed by SteamSpy article on the best-selling games on Steam in 2015 is an interesting list to read. In the image below, Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) tops the list. Well, this isn’t surprising as the game has proven out to be popular on the PC as well as on consoles. The interesting thing about the Steam Sale is seeing Fallout 4 on Rank 2 even though it released in November.

Checking the list, some independent games are in this list too. H1Z1 is a game popular with Streamers and has had a big year, even though it is still part of the Early Access System on Steam.

Looking down the list it comes as no surprise that we see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and a few others.
What’s surprising to me is Batman: Arkham Knight had more sales than Mad Max, which in my opinion deserved more attention than it deserved.

The above list mentions the games which have sold the most copies irrespective of their Release Date. Counter Strike Global Offensive tops the chart, beating GTA V with a great figure considering the number of sales.
One might complain about the price difference between GTA V and CS GO though. 

What’s surprising is the number of sales of old games beating some very good games released this year!

According to SteamSpy, the list is assembled based on number of copies activated per country. Some copies might’ve been bought from other gaming services like Origin and UPlay. Steam Spy tried to filter out giveaways and temporarily free games, but they can’t assure whether the list is mistake proof or not.
