Apple iPad Pro is set to launch in India this December

Apple is expected to launch its new model of iPad, iPad Pro in India, which is likely to hit the Indian market next week.

Although the exact availability and pricing hasn’t been revealed yet officially,a source, TheQuint has revealed that the 32GB iPad Pro (Wi-Fi) will be priced at Rs67900, 128GB iPad Pro Wi-Fi at Rs 79,900 and 128GB iPad Pro (Wi-Fi + Cellular) at 91,900 INR. The report also adds the availability of the device is expected from the second week, later this month.

iPad Pro Specifications and Variants

The iPad Pro comes with a 12.9-inch (2732 x 2048 ~264ppi pixel density) Retina Display is just 6.9mm thick and weighs 713 grams. Under the hood, the iPad Pro sports the Apple’s new and powerful A9X chip with 64-bit architecture and M9 motion co-processor which is said to offer better performance than 80% of portable laptops out there. According to Apple, the A9X offers desktop-grade CPU and console-grade GPU performance. It has a Non-removable 10,307 mAh battery which promises a 10hours battery life as well. The iPad Pro features a 8MP rear camera with an aperture of f/2.4. The front camera features a 1.2MP camera lens with an aperture of f/2.2. The rear camera can shoot 1080p HD video recording at 30fps and Slow-Mo at 120fps. Front camera has capability of shooting videos at 720p. Adding up, the iPad Pro is the only iOS device to support data transfers at USB 3.0 speed with the new Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader technology that Apple launched last month.

iPad Pro Exclusive Accessories

Coming up to the iPad Pro Exclusive accessories, Apple has launched made it’s own version of stylus called the Apple Pencil. This white coloured pressure sensitive stylus which works on a technique called 3D Touch. It is launched at a price tag of 99USD and is aimed more at the creative professionals who want to get precise and accurate output for their ideas.

The other additional accessory is the Smart Keyboard which can fold up to become the iPad Pro Flip style cover. You can orient the keyboard to be used for typing, for watching content on the display and covering the iPad Pro. This is also sold separately at $169.

iPad Pro Teardown Test

The recent iFixit teardown leaves the statement “iPad Pro has a very poor score in our teardown tests”. iFixit gave it a Repairability Score:3 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair) and pointed out that the Smart Connector port is virtually impossible to replace and also, the fused front panel increases the cost of screen repair along with the risk of damaging the LCD when opening. Gobs of adhesive hold everything in place making all repairs more difficult.
