Amazon opens up Alexa voice and text tech for developers to make new chatbots!
Amazon Alexa has been booming up the smart-home industry with it’s AI (Artificial Intelligence) based product, Echo for few years now. And now, the company is looking forward to compete with it’s AI technology with successful giants like Siri(Apple) and Google Assistant
Amazon is giving out the same technology that Alexa is based on to the developers by it’s new platform, Amazon Lex.
The platform (Lex) provides advanced deep learning functionalities of automatic speech recognition (ASR) for converting speech to text, and natural language understanding (NLU) to understand and comprehend the human intention and developers being able to build applications over the same!
They’re focusing their goals on understanding human intentions {(how they respond and interpret) to certain conversations} and build responsive conversational bots (“chatbots”) through the same platform!

Let’s get real, Developing and building such AI technology requires HUGE amount of data to be stored, processed, and decoded and delivered to Lex to understand humans (lol) on a massive scale!
The cool thing about having this running as a service in the cloud instead of in your own data center or on your own desktop is that we can make Lex better continuously by the millions of customers that are using it – Vogels on Amazon Lex
Amazon has sold an approximated 10 Million Echo devices as of now, Google and Apple still are the top players with the 100s of millions of devices running on their voice assistants!
Developers and Lex
Lex gives all the resources to the developers to build and integrate new chatbots based on Alexa’s technology.
Amazon isn’t completely open sourcing Alexa’s tech, they’re trying to reach out to developers app and enhance their own technology!
Amazon will be charging developers depending on how many API call requests they make (on text and voice requests). These queries will be stored in Amazon’s cloud to provide more intelligence and data to Alexa for it’s development!

Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great
job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more
than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
Hello, i read your blog from time to time and
i own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot
of spam comments? If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can suggest?

Very good info. Lucky me I came across your blog by
accident (stumbleupon). I have book-marked it for later!
