Mi Notebook Air – Xiaomi’s first laptop

The Chinese budget phone maker company, Xiaomi, launched its first laptop – the Mi notebook Air – along with Xiaomi Redmi Pro. The company is apparently comparing its Mi Notebook Air with Apple’s MacBook Air.

Mi Notebook Air comes in two different variants. The first variant has a 12.5-inch display and is priced at CNY 3,499 (approx Rs. 35,000), the 13.3-inch screen variant is priced CNY 4,999 (approx Rs. 50,000). Both of the variants are running on Windows 10 with a 1MP webcam.

The 12.5-inch variant is 12.9mm thick and weighs about 1.07kg which is thinner than 12-inch MacBook Air (13.1mm). It sports a full-HD display, powered by Intel Core M3 processor, no GPU, with 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD via SATA and an SATA slot for expansion. You also get one HDMI port and USB 3.0 port. If you talk about battery life, then you get 11.5 hours of battery life.

The 13.3-inch variant is just 14.8mm thick and weighs about 1.28kg which is thinner than Apple’s MacBook Air (17mm). It comes with powerful 2.3Ghz (Turbo up to 2.7Ghz) Intel Core i5-6200U “Skylake-U” processor also with a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU. You also get 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB of SSD via PCIe and SATA slot for expansion. It claims 9.5 hours of battery backup which two hours less than the 12.5-inch variant.

Apart from these, Notebook Air comes with AKG speakers, edge-to-edge glass protection, a laminated display, Keyboard with backlit keys, and Dolby Digital Surround Sound.
